Emilia Olave Maya, of Pocomoke City, MD, formerly of Georgetown, DE, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2024, at the age of 84. Born on July 23, 1940, in Colombia, South America, Emilia's vibrant spirit and love for life touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Emilia dedicated her life to creating a warm and nurturing home for her family. As a devoted homemaker, she took immense pride in ensuring that her home was a place of love and support. Her culinary skills were unmatched, and she had a passion for gardening. Emilia discovered joy in the art of stained glass, her adventurous spirit took her on travels that broadened her horizons and deepened her appreciation for the world around her.
Emilia was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Hector J. Maya, with whom she shared many years of happiness and mutual respect. Together, they built a family steeped in love and their shared values. Emilia is survived by her two sons, Thomas Maya and Juan Carlos Maya, who will forever cherish her memory and the wisdom she imparted to them. Her legacy is carried on through her grandchildren, Brendan J. Maya, Hali Maya, and Christian Maya, whose lives were deeply enriched by her presence.
Emilia's life was anchored by her faith, and she will be honored with a Funeral Mass on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 10:30 AM at St. Michael the Archangel R.C. Church, located at 202 Edward Street, Georgetown, DE 19947.
Emilia is also survived by her dear brothers, Carlos Enrique Olave and Guillermo Olave as well as her beloved sisters Nora Shibusawa and Carmen Olave whose companionship and love provided her with strength and comfort throughout her life.
In this time of sorrow, the family invites those who knew and loved Emilia to join them in celebrating a life that was lived with grace, passion, and an unwavering dedication to family and community. While Emilia will be deeply missed, her spirit will continue to blossom in the hearts of all she touched.
May she rest in peace.
