Theresa Marie
Siomkajlo
August 5, 1931 – October 31, 2024
Theresa Marie Siomkajlo, born on August 5, 1931, in Manhattan, NY was sent to her eternal home on October 31, 2024, in Newark, Delaware after a long illness.
Theresa was the beloved daughter of Serafina and Frank Marmo, the loving wife of Julian Siomkajlo, the mother of Lisa Remson and Kristina Alinskas, mother-in-law to Algis Alinskas, grandmother of Maia Alinskas, Ilona Alinskas, Rock Remson, Slaine Harkess, Kristina Van Der Weele and Matt Van Der Weele, and great grandmother of Julian Remson, Aria Remson, Aidren Remson, Mariah Van Der Weele and Tyler Van Der Weele.
Terry, as she was affectionately known, was a bright and shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. Her smile could light up a room, and very often did. Terry's passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her. We ask that you remember Terry not for the way her life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure and honor of knowing her.
Theresa is survived by her loving children Lisa Remson and Kristina Alinskas, her grandchildren Maia Alinskas, Ilona Alinskas, Rock Remson, Slaine Harkess, Kristina Van Der Weele and Matt Van Der Weele, and her great grandchildren Julian Remson, Aria Remson, Aidren Remson, Tyler Van Der Weele, and Mariah Van Der Weele. She was predeceased by her parents Serafina Cardillo Marmo and Frank Marmo, her brother Nicholas Marmo, her sisters Victoria Wagner and Lucille Valente, and her son-in-law Algis Alinskas.
Theresa was a person who had a beautiful smile for everyone she met, and a deeply forgiving and compassionate heart. She was often lovingly referred to as "Saint Theresa" by the people who knew her well because of her endless patience and grace.
After her own family was raised Terry completed her college education in accounting and worked in bookkeeping for many years. She was a prolific artist, specializing in watercolors, and created many beautiful works of art that she used to grace Christmas cards each year as well as throughout the family home.
Terry enjoyed spending sunny days at the beach, going on long road trips, meeting new people, eating out at her favorite restaurants and volunteering at the Christian Storehouse. Terry also loved to play cards and bingo and was a ruthless scrabble player. Up until her final days it was almost impossible to beat her in a game of scrabble or bingo.
Those who knew Theresa will remember her for her infectious smile and overwhelming grace, her deep-rooted faith in the Catholic Church, her relationship with God, her dedication to her family, and her unwavering commitment to spreading love and kindness to everyone she encountered. She had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed her path.
The Celebration of Life service to honor the life of Theresa Marie Siomkajlo will be held on November 13, at 11:00 am at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church in Lewes, Delaware.
Although Theresa's physical presence may no longer grace our lives, her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May her memory be a blessing, and may we carry forth her legacy of love and compassion in all that we do.
As you continue to worship Jesus up there, dear Theresa, your light will forever shine brightly in our hearts until we meet again.
