In his professional life, Thomas was dedicated to serving others, working last as a caregiver and personal attendant for his mother. His varied career included roles as a certified flagger in the construction field and positions at Allen’s Hatchery and Mountaire Farms. He also found joy in the flexibility and interaction offered by delivering for DoorDash.
Thomas was a man of many talents and hobbies. An avid fisherman, he was known for snagging the first catch of the day or the most fish. He was also a passionate gamer, spending countless hours on his Xbox with his best friend, “Eighty,” and other friends around the globe. Thomas’s beautiful smile and bright eyes were a constant presence, as he was always telling jokes, singing, and dancing, lifting the spirits of those around him. His culinary adventures were legendary among family and friends, as he loved to cook and experiment with exotic recipes, often proclaiming, “I’ll try almost anything once.”

He is survived by his loving parents, Valarie Abbott-Jenkins and Thomas Waples, Sr.; his cherished children, William and Journey; his devoted fiancée, Jessica Toomey, and their blended family. He also leaves behind grandparents Eugene (Gaynell) Abbott, two brothers, William Abbott, Sr. and Thomas Palmer; three stepbrothers, Frank Jenkins, Jr., Linwood Jenkins, and Andrew Jenkins; two stepsisters, Franchesca Jenkins and Shawntia Jenkins; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, aunties, uncles and other relatives.
