William Gary
Conner
Aug 16, 1952 — Jun 21, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of William "Gary" Conner on June 21, 2026, at Lofland Park Center in Seaford, DE at the age of 73. Born in Milford, Delaware on August 16, 1952.
Gary was the beloved son of William T. and Lois Conner, who instilled in him the values of hard work. He was predeceased by his devoted parents, his son, Michael Conner, and granddaughters, Aaliyah Whaley and Aurora Miller, whose memories he cherished deeply until his final days.
Left to honor his memory are his children: daughter, Christine Whaley & husband John Whaley of Bridgeville, son John Conner of North Dakota and son, David Conner of Virginia. His loving presence will also be profoundly missed by his sisters, Mary Mayne & husband John of North Carolina, and Lynn Hoyle & husband Joe of Virginia. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Josh, Timmy, William, Liliana, William, and Brianna as well as his great-granddaughters, Evie and Piper. Gary's nephew Joey, residing in Virginia, also carries forward the family's enduring bond.
A skilled carpenter by trade, Gary's hands crafted more than just structures; they shaped memories and left a lasting imprint on the hearts of those he encountered. His career was a testament to his dedication until an injury in 1992 led him to explore other passions. An avid fisherman, he found solace and contentment amidst nature's quiet whispers, casting lines and reeling in tales of the sea. His love for woodworking was evident in the exquisite duck decoys and various creations he crafted, each a piece of art reflecting his meticulous attention to detail and the warmth of his spirit.
Gary's heart found its true rhythm at the beach, where the ebb and flow of the tides mirrored the gentle, steady presence he was in the lives of his family and friends. His life was a living testament to the beauty of simple pleasures and the profound connections we forge with one another.
As we celebrate Gary's life, we remember a man whose legacy is written not only in the structures he built but in the hearts he touched. His love, wisdom, and laughter will forever echo in the lives of his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, in honor of Gary's generous spirit and lifelong commitment to helping others. A private family gathering will be held to commemorate his life and the indelible impact he had on all who knew him.
Rest in peace, dear Gary. Your journey on this earth may have ended, but your spirit will forever be a part of us.
