Obituary

Yoriko "Yori" Takano Sawin, 81, of Bridgeville, DE, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. Yori was born on October 13, 1942, in Tokyo, Japan, to Kotoji and Satoyoshi Takano. She was the youngest of five children.

Yori moved permanently to the United States in 1975 and became a naturalized US citizen. Before retiring in 2001, she traveled all over the East Coast in her position as a tour guide for a Japanese travel agency. She enjoyed taking her clients to DC, Williamsburg, New York City, Atlanta, and Philadelphia. After retiring, she spent much of her time reading, gardening, crocheting, and knitting.

Yori was preceded in death by her parents and siblings. Left behind to cherish her memory are her two children Barb French (Dirk) and Benjamin Sawin (Jean) and her grandchildren Brit Obenauer (Paolo Caricasole), Alexander Obenauer (Sarah), Grace Sawin, and Riley Sawin.
